Let’s talk bubble exits on your wedding day | Lancashire Wedding Photographer
Bubbles are super fun and becoming a popular alternative for wedding exits, particularly at venues that don’t allow confetti.
But with this mess free alternative to confetti, there is a little more logistical work to be done to have a successful bubble wedding exit.
Just like with confetti, the more you have the better the impact, the same rules apply to bubbles.
So, I’m going to share some tips on how to make sure you have all the bubbles for your wedding exit.
There are two methods I’d consider for getting lots of bubbles which are bubble machines and bubble guns.
Let’s delve deeper.
Hire Event Bubble Machines.
If you have access to a power source hiring event bubble machines can be a great way to ensure you have a lot of bubbles for your wedding exit. You can simply set them running and they will churn out hundreds/thousands of bubbles a minute.
But, how do you know the right bubble machine to hire? Realistically this can be the tricky part, particularly as some event hire companies stock low grade bubble machines which may not get the job done.
Tips to find the right bubble machines.
Check how many bubbles it churns out a minute. You want a large capacity machine.
Check the direction the bubbles are pushed out. If your machine is low on the ground, they need to be guided up into the air from the mouth of the machine.
Try and find local top end event hire companies, some companies will only ship on palette delivery for these machines which is super expensive. So, if the company is local, collecting and dropping off the machine yourself will help keep cost down.
For bubble machines there are also lots of different bubble liquids available which is nice to give you more choice of effect and there are low residue options. Some bubble liquids can be a little sticky on the skin, probably nicer to get a less sticky one!
Finally, if possible test the machine before your bubble wedding exit moment to see for yourself how the bubbles come out etc. this will help you determine the right location of the bubble machine, or two if you go all out for it!
This option is likely more ideal for bigger budget weddings. But don’t worry, if your working to a smaller budget I have the answer…
Bubble Guns For Weddings.
Bubble guns are quite likely the cheapest method for delivering a lot of bubbles and possibly the easiest as you don’t need a power source.
Starting with the basics, here are the 3 key things to look for when choosing the right bubble guns for your bubble wedding exit.
Whether your bubble gun holds bubble liquid or if you have to dip the bubble gun into bubble liquid.
Size of holes/dials.
Capacity of bubble gun for how many bubbles it can churn out.
My advice will always be to choose bubble guns that hold bubble liquid within them.
Why? Simply put it is just way way way more practical.
You don’t have to have your guests dip their bubble gun into bubble liquid which could get messy.
You won’t run out of bubble liquid and therefore bubbles quickly.
On top of these bubble guns being more practical, they are likely to have spinning dials which creates individual bubbles.
Bubble guns that you dip into bubble liquid have fixed holes which can create streams of bubbles that look like floating slugs. And not to be mean to slugs, but it’s just not as nice as beautiful individual bubbles.
The next thing to consider is size of dial as this will dictate the size of bubbles produced and the capacity of bubbles the bubble gun can churn out.
Some bubble guns churn out loads of tiny bubbles and some churn out fewer but big bubbles.
This decision will come down to your personal preference for aesthetic and how many bubble guns you plan to have. If you’re not sure, order one of the bubble guns you’re considering and give it a go. Overall they are not overly expensive individually so definitely plan to get a few of them for guests.
How to make a bubble gun pretty.
As bubble guns are marketed as kids toys, they come in all sorts of bright colours that aren’t necessarily going to match your wedding colour scheme. But there is a solution.
Buy spray paint that matches your colour scheme and give that bubble gun a whole new look. You will need to make sure the spray paint is designed to cover plastic surfaces, whether specific to plastic or multi-purpose that include plastic surfaces. Plan for two coats for even coverage and boom, you have a bubble gun that matches your wedding colour scheme!
Extra Tips For Bubble Exits
Whether you hire bubble machines or purchase a number of bubble guns, if you are doing a bubble wedding exit it’s always nice to make sure all your guests are involved in the moment so consider handing out small bubble wands as well. This keeps everyone involved and contributing to the bubble fun!
Finally, from a logistical point of view.
On the big day you need to check out what the wind is doing in the space you will be having your bubble exit. This is important as even a small amount of wind will blow your lovely bubbles in the direction it is going.
Overall you want to make sure you have the bubbles flowing in the right direction to walk through. So if it is windy or a more exposed location, placement of bubble machines and bubble guns is the key to success!
